Local MP Mary Macleod has welcomed new figures showing big falls in unemployment locally. Now just 2.5% of people in the Brentford and Isleworth constituency are claiming Job Seekers Allowance, and just 2.8% of young people.
The figures are the first to be announced since the Aspire Jobs and Apprenticeships Fair, organised by Mary and West Thames College.
Mary commented:
“It’s really great news to see more people coming off unemployment benefit and getting back into work with a more secure, brighter future ahead of them. Now nearly 600 people and 200 young people are back in work since I was elected. Local companies like Sky in Osterley, with 1,500 new construction jobs opening up for the creation of their expanded campus, are helping to solidify the foundations of recovery in our country.”
