Conservative Spokesman on Education Councillor Robert Oulds passed on his congratulations to staff and students of Reach “Free School” Academy in Feltham this week, after a recent Ofsted Inspection gave the Academy an “outstanding” report.
Reach Academy which is only eighteen months old scored very highly in all four inspection areas: pupil achievement, teaching quality, pupil behaviour and leadership of the Academy. Free Schools have been introduced under the Conservatives to increase academic choice for parents and allows communities to have more of a stake in the setting up and running of a Free School.
Speaking on the Inspection Councillor Oulds said:
“Free Schools are the future of education and learning where everyone: Parent, Teacher, Pupil and Entrepreneur can partake in education of the next generation. Hounslow Labour and especially the Labour Lead Member of Education Councillor Tom Bruce have been lacklustre in their enthusiasm for Free Schools.”
Local Conservative election candidate Agnieszka Lipka added: “I would like to express satisfaction that parents in Feltham have the opportunity for better education for their children and the most effective teaching is not only served in privileged areas.” Fellow candidate Patryk Malinski added: “Free schools bring the education closer to our communities empowering the parents, head teachers and teachers. Many of them are also more responsive to the current trends and needs of the labour market equipping the young people with more appropriate knowledge and skills”.
Councillor Oulds re-iterated Free Schools as essential and at the forefront of the need to ease pressure and demand on local schools. He confirmed if the Conservatives won the Hounslow Council Elections on 22nd May they would give more vocal support to Free Schools and significantly increase their number in the Borough.
