Mary has been praised by London Mayor Boris Johnson for her work on behalf of local people in securing a consultation on Piccadilly line trains stopping at Turnham Green Tube Station.
The Mayor’s support comes after Mary asked for the help of local people in forming the ‘Turnham Green Action Team’, which will aim to spread the word about the consultation so that Chiswick residents can have their say.
Mayor of London, Boris Johnson said:
“I want to congratulate Mary for her tireless and determined campaigning for her constituents in Chiswick to have more trains stopping at Turnham Green station. We have discussed this many times, and as a result, I am pleased to announce a consultation this autumn.
“It is important that local residents contribute to the forthcoming consultation, so that Transport for London can take into account the views of residents in making their final decision, and I know that Mary will be leading that charge.”
Last year, Mary secured an agreement from the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, for Transport for London (TfL) to have a consultation on the issue. TfL have confirmed that they expect their consultation to start shortly and continue until the beginning of October. She will be working closely with them to make sure Chiswick residents are heard.
Mary said:
“This is our chance to get something done that will really benefit the local community. I would urge anyone who would like to see better transport links in Chiswick to get behind this campaign and let TfL know how much you want Piccadilly line trains to stop at Turnham Green”.
