Boris Johnson has spoken of his support to see Piccadilly Line trains stop at Turnham Green Station. The long running battle has seen increasing traction in recent weeks following a campaign spearheaded by local MP Mary Macleod.
Mary commented, “Local people have been campaigning for the Piccadilly Line to stop at Turnham Green station for years and nothing has happened. I am determined to push for this on behalf of local residents and I am encouraged that our local campaign has convinced Boris Johnson to call for a consultation into the issue.”
The campaign gained added impetus last week when the Mayor met with commuters and local businesses on Turnham Green Terrace and commented, “Chiswick is a fantastic place and I hope that after the TfL consultation we see the Piccadilly Line stop at Turnham Green station.”
Mary added, “I have always believed that following the signalling upgrade it will be possible for Piccadilly Line trains to stop at Turnham Green. This is an example of a local campaign fully supported by local residents in Chiswick. What is important now is that people vote on May 3rd so that we can stop Ken Livingstone from undoing any progress made.”
