Local MP Mary Macleod has discussed proposed National Health Service reforms with students from Heathland School in Hounslow. Students from years 11 and 12 were invited to give a presentation on the pros and cons of the Governments proposals before being invited to take part in a debate with Mary and Dr. Paresh Mistry, a consultant at West Middlesex Hospital.
Mary commented: “I was really interested to hear what the students thought about the proposed changes to the NHS. Most of those who I met with were looking to study medicine so I think that it is fantastic that these young people are taking such and already do some volunteering in local hospitals”.
Mary added, “The students gave an excellent presentation and summary on the NHS and really thoughtful questions. It is vital that we engage not just those who already work in the NHS but also those who aspire to become part of one of the best public health services in the world.”
