On the 24th July 2012, the Olympic torch made its way through the London Borough of Hounslow to cheering and excited crowds who lined the streets.
Mary Macleod MP said “I was delighted to see so many people all over the London Borough of Hounslow embrace the Olympic spirit by cheering on our torchbearers. There was a real carnival atmosphere with dancers and drummers entertaining people on Brentford and Hounslow High Streets all day. I was in Lampton Park to welcome in the Hounslow leg of the Olympic torch relay, with the other thousands of spectators. It was great to see people from all sections of our community coming together to celebrate the Olympics coming back to London. Everyone is excited about seeing the world’s best athletes coming to London, and I know the people of Hounslow will be cheering on Team GB, and especially our local hero Mo Farah.”
