"It has been a long and, at times, difficult campaign and Hounslow was divided pretty much 50/50 on whether to remain or leave the EU. It's important now that the country comes together and looks to its future. I am sorry that David Cameron decided to step down as Prime Minister and Leader of the Conservative Party though I fully understand his reasons for doing so. He has served my Party and the country with great distinction and dedication as Party Leader for over 10 years, and as Prime Minister for six years. Today is the start of a long process and we need politicians from all sides to work together to deliver security, opportunity and a brighter future."
