Small Business Saturday is coming to Brentford and Isleworth for the first time on the 7th December.
Small Business Saturday is an initiative first started in the U.S. to encourage people to support their local small, independent businesses at this time of year. It has the backing of the Prime Minister and all parties and local MP Mary Macleod has a busy day planned locally in her role as Small Business Ambassador for London.
Mary will begin the day by visiting Parkside Garage in Hounslow with the Federation of Small Businesses before heading to Brentford High Street with the Brentford Chamber of Commerce to visit local businesses. She will spend the afternoon in Chiswick visiting the High Road and local traders.
Mary commented: “I am delighted to be supporting Small Business Saturday this year. Small businesses are the lifeblood of our economy and this event will be a great way to boost them during the Christmas period – the busiest time of year for almost every business in this country. There are so many small independent shops and businesses in our local area with many fabulous gifts and unique products on offer. I would encourage everyone to go out and enjoy them on Small Business Saturday”.
Mary has teamed up with local businesses to organise the Small Business Saturday Treasure Hunt around Chiswick to encourage local families and residents to explore some small shops and businesses they may not even have noticed before. There is an iPad mini up for grabs as well as many other top prizes.
Mary added: “The Small Business Saturday Treasure Hunt has been developed with families in mind but with the vast array of prizes we have assembled, there is sure to be something for everyone. I am particularly thankful to Barclays for donating the iPad Mini for the Treasure Hunt and for all the other businesses that have been so generous in offering prizes and taking part on the day.”
To get your Small Business Saturday Treasure Hunt form, please visit Mary’s website www.marymacleod.com on Friday 6th December or look out for volunteers in Chiswick on the day giving out copies.
