Local MP Mary Macleod has highlighted the dangers of binge drinking after spending an evening shadowing the local safer neighbourhood team. During an operation last week to target alcohol related crime Mary commented, “alcohol abuse is a major issue locally and I am glad to have had the opportunity to see how the police and tackling it. Over 70% of hospital admissions between midnight and 5am are as a direct cause of alcohol so this clearly something that we need to address.”
Mary spent last Thursday evening with the Brentford, Isleworth and Chiswick Safer Neighbourhood Team and came face to face with some of the problems faced by local police.
“The police do a fantastic job at tackling crime and antisocial behaviour on our streets. It is vital that we feel safe in our communities and I welcomed the Prime Ministers announcement last week that the Government is to announce a set of measure to try and tackle this problem.”
