Mary has congratulated Ruth Cadbury on her selection as the Labour Party’s Parliamentary candidate for Brentford and Isleworth and has called for a positive campaign about the future of the local area.
Mary said:
“Much has been achieved in the constituency as a result of the changes implemented by the Conservative-led Government and the work we have done locally. Since the 2010 General Election, unemployment in our constituency has fallen by 11.3% and youth unemployment is now 17% lower. This is great news for our local area and it shows that we are on the right track. The sharp fall in local youth unemployment is especially encouraging and it demonstrates the great progress that has been made by young people in Chiswick, Brentford, Isleworth, Osterley and Hounslow.”
Since being elected in 2010, Mary has held 140 advice surgeries and responded to over 14,500 individual enquiries from constituents. Her campaigns have included the upgrade of Kew Bridge and Gunnersbury stations, stopping Piccadilly line trains at Turnham Green, free parking in the Borough, promoting local businesses, yearly Jobs Fair events, supporting female entrepreneurs and the Hounslow Volunteering Awards. Along with her firm stance against Heathrow expansion and night flights, Mary is eager to do even more for local residents in the years to come.
She added:
“Conservatives have achieved some fantastic things nationally. The deficit is down by a third, there are 1.4 million new private sector jobs and over a quarter of a million more small businesses. We’ve frozen council tax, cut welfare, cut crime, cut immigration and cut tax for 24 million people. Although we have achieved a great deal, it is important to remember that there is still much more to do. I am confident about the future of our local area and I look forward to serving local people for years to come.”
