Mary Macleod MP has reached out to local businesses in Brentford and Isleworth again to support a homework club based in the Bridgelink Centre on the Ivybridge Estate, which may face closure after May 2014 without funding.
Commenting, Mary said:
“The Ivybridge Homework Club based in the Bridgelink Centre in Isleworth is a superb resource for children who need help with their numeracy and literacy. I would urge local businesses and residents to support these youngsters and help them fulfil their potential. This is about creating a better future for the next generation who live locally and giving them a better chance in life.”
The homework club has been struggling financially for some time and needs support to fund their youth worker along with day to day resources such as notebooks, pens and refreshments. They are also desperately seeking volunteers, both regularly to help the children with Maths and English and someone with IT experience to help set up their IT classroom.
The club is open on two evenings a week and is a free service for many of the families who live on the Ivybridge estate who cannot afford private tutoring.
