A Few Facts on Being a Councillor
The residents of each of Hounslow's twenty wards elect three councillors once every four years. - a total of 60 councillors, who make up the elected element of Hounslow Council.
In addition to dealing with residents’ concerns and issues, all Councillors are expected to participate in both the general meetings of Hounslow Council and the Area Forums. Individual councillors are appointed to work on the specialist decision making committees such as planning and licensing, and to those scrutinising other key aspects of the Council’s activities such as education and housing. Councillors currently receive an annual allowance of just over £9000 and can recharge certain expenses.
